AI short dramas and solid-state batteries gain catalysts as tech stocks rebound on higher turnover, though divergence emerges
Jimeng has launched an integrated short-drama studio, while solid-state battery policy and pilot-production progress are drawing attention; growth sectors led gains on 28 October, but a high rate of stocks falling back from their daily price limits constrains the rebound’s durability.
Competition in AI short dramas is shifting toward content and operational capabilities, while solid-state battery opportunities point first to pilot-stage equipment and materials. The tech-stock rebound still needs support from trading volume.
How are production and competition changing in AI short dramas?
After the launch of ByteDance-owned Jimeng’s short-drama studio, users can upload a script and complete character extraction, scene binding and storyboard breakdown within the same project, reducing the work of switching tools and transferring assets between production stages.
Guosen Securities believes that as AI video generation capabilities cross the threshold for widespread commercial adoption, the advantages of AI short dramas in subject diversity and content freedom are becoming increasingly apparent, and the industry could continue to expand rapidly.
Downstream platforms use paid traffic acquisition and competitive mechanisms to select content, requiring producers to shift from broad-based expansion to refined operations. Guosen Securities therefore focuses on platforms with traffic and distribution capabilities, as well as production companies with high-quality IP, mature AI workflows and a consistent track record of hits.
COL has launched an integrated AI short-drama production platform, with an initial batch of more than 500 intelligent scene, prop and character assets added to its library. As of the first half of 2026, the company had produced and launched more than 1200 premium AI short dramas in total, including more than 10 titles with over a hundred million views.
Where are the first opportunities in solid-state batteries?
Beijing’s new energy system plan calls for advancing research and development of battery technologies including solid-state and flow batteries, and promoting applications of new energy storage. Southwest Securities believes that pilot production capacity for solid-state batteries is being brought online in a concentrated period, placing the industry in a critical window.
The firm expects 2026–2027 to be a window for pilot production and small-batch mass production, with investment opportunities in equipment and materials potentially materializing first. Relevant equipment from Sunresin Intelligent is currently mainly in research and development validation and small-batch delivery; Shanghai Xiba’s solid electrolytes, silicon-carbon anodes and lithium sulfide materials have completed trial production and product validation and secured small-batch orders.
How broad is the tech-stock rebound, and what constrains its durability?
On 28 October, market turnover rose by 167.5 billion yuan from the previous trading day, and the three major indices all closed higher. The number of companies with turnover above 1 billion yuan across the Shanghai and Shenzhen markets rose by 34 to 330, including 144 chip-related companies, 122 robotics-related companies and 87 AI-related companies.
Capital rotated from low-valuation defensive sectors toward more responsive growth sectors, with humanoid robots, semiconductors and AI hardware among the leading gainers. However, the rate of stocks falling back from their daily price limits reached 50% that day, and the robotics sector had already shown divergence in the afternoon. The report views the recovery on higher turnover as a positive signal, while the rebound’s durability still requires continued volume support.
A total of 21 companies reached a one-year high, unchanged from the previous trading day, including 9 robotics-related companies. Zheshang Securities believes humanoid robots are moving from batch validation toward scaled deployment, which could drive demand for core components.
